The Edson Eagles are extremely excited to announce the return of 17 year old defenseman Zayne Dettanikkeaze for the 2025–2026 season.
Born in 2008, Dettanikkeaze was one of the youngest players in the NJHL during the 2024–25 campaign—but he certainly didn’t play like it. In 38 regular season games, the 16-year-old blueliner was known for his responsible two-way play, posting 2 goals and 7 assists for 9 points, along with 30 penalty minutes, while earning the trust of the coaching staff in key defensive situations. Heading into the 2025–26 season, Dettanikkeaze is expected to take on an even larger role on the Eagles’ blue line as he continues to develop into one of the NJHL’s top young defensemen.
Fans can look forward to seeing Dettanikkeaze suit up in Eagles colors again in September this season!
